TONBRIDGE TO VISIT BILLERICAY IN NEXT ROUND (26 September)

The FA Cup draw for the 2nd Qualifying Round was made earlier this week. Once again Tonbridge were drawn away, this time against Billericay Town, who currently lie in second place in the Ryman's League Premier Division. The game will be played on Saturday 3 October. It could have been worse, we could have been paired with Sutton United...

TONBRIDGE FACE TOUGH WEEK (26 September)

The Angels hope to improve on their current ninth place in the league by earning points from the two league games in the coming week, but it will be a tough task. On Saturday Tonbridge are at home to rivals Margate who are currently fifth in the league and chasing promotion. The following Tuesday there's a visit to Havant & Waterlooville, who are top of the table with 22 points, seven more than second-placed Bashley. Tonbridge are the only team to take points off the newly-merged side so far this season, in a 0-0 draw on August Bank Holiday Monday. Hopefully the feat can be repeated with at least a draw.

Fixtures this week:
26 September, v Margate (home) - Dr Martens League - 3pm kick off.
29 September, v Havant & Waterlooville (away) - Dr Martens League - 7.45pm? kick off.
3 October, v Billericay Town (away) - FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round - 3pm kick off.

EMBLEN LEAVES THE ADDICKS FOR WYCOMBE (26 September)

Former Tonbridge striker Paul Emblen joined Second Division Wycombe Wanderers for £60,000 from Charlton Athletic last week. Charlton will receive another £30,000 based on appearances. The question most Angels supporters will want to know is whether there is a sell-on fee for the Angels! Emblen left Tonbridge for £7,500 with another £45,000 on its way based on appearances. So basically we don't exactly know, although it looks like we won't be getting any more money...

IS WILKINS COMING BACK TO LONGMEAD? (6 September)

Another ex-Tonbridge striker Craig Wilkins, now with Gravesend & Northfleet, was spotted at Longmead Stadium on August Bank Holiday Monday watching the game against Havant & Waterlooville with his brother Scott (also an ex-Angel). The latest rumour at Tonbridge is that he may be returning to the Angels because he is unhappy about playing in defence for Gravesend. It is likely that if Wilkins were to return, he would certainly boost the Angels bid for a high position at the end of the season, especially considering the 'competition' for places in the Angels strikeforce at present.

BRIEF BITS (6 September)

Reserves' strikers Julian Taylor and Darren Walmsley have both left the club. Taylor has joined fellow ex-Angel Simon Colbran at Crowborough Athletic, where Colbran is the player manager, while Walmsley is now at Folkestone Invicta playing for their reserve team.

Tonbridge have been fined £250 by the Winstonlead Kent League after failing to notify the league on time of the reserve side's departure from Division Two. The Suburban League, which is the league in which Tonbridge's reserves will play in the coming season, held its AGM in February, two months after the deadline for withdrawals from the Kent League.
